At Calytris, we choose our materials with everyday wear in mind. Here’s what goes into our earrings, so you know exactly what you’re wearing. Materials vary by style, so please check each product page for the details.

Zinc Alloy
Zinc alloy is the base of most of our earrings. It lets us create bold, sculptural shapes while keeping each piece comfortable to wear. Our die-cast zinc alloy is made to meet RoHS and GB 28480 jewelry standards, no lead and cadmium.

14k Gold Plating
Our zinc alloy pieces are finished with 14k yellow gold or 14k white gold plating for a polished, lasting shine. Plating is a surface layer, so it wears gradually with use. Gentle handling and regular care will help preserve it.

S925 Sterling Silver
Many of our styles feature S925 sterling silver posts. S925 sterling silver is made of 92.5% pure silver mixed with other metals for strength. Silver can slowly tarnish when exposed to sweat, body oils, humidity and air. This is a natural property of silver, not a defect, and a gentle wipe with a soft cloth will help restore its shine.

Cubic Zirconia
Where a style features sparkling stones, they are cubic zirconia (CZ), a lab-created stone known for its brilliance.

Freshwater Pearls
Where a style features pearls, they are freshwater pearls. As pearls are natural, slight differences in shape and luster are normal. Please keep them away from perfume, lotion and water to preserve their glow.

A Note on Sensitive Ears
Everyone’s skin is different, and reactions to jewelry can vary from person to person. If you have sensitive ears or known metal sensitivities, please check the materials listed on each product page before you buy. Sweat, trapped moisture and residue near a piercing can also cause irritation, so we recommend cleaning your earrings and piercings regularly.
